Philadelphia Eagles: Family throws surprise birthday party at tailgate for Vietnam veteran

Philadelphia Eagles fans gathered early Sunday morning to tailgate ahead of the game, with many celebrating milestones beyond the team’s performance.

Among them was Dan McAlee, a longtime Eagles supporter who recalled his emotional connection to the team dating back to the 1980 Super Bowl. The Vietnam veteran was celebrating his 70th birthday, which was made special by a surprise visit from his family.

Celebrations Among Fans

In addition to McAlee, other fans were also marking personal occasions at the tailgate. Rob D’Adrea, celebrating his 30th birthday, enjoyed the day with 75 family members and friends, who brought a variety of food and games to the celebration.

D’Adrea’s spread included smoked jerk chicken, pulled pork, baked mac and cheese, breakfast sandwiches, tater tots, and mimosas, staples of any Eagles tailgate.

Another fan, Courtney Bartkowski from Ewing, New Jersey, highlighted the importance of sharing this experience with friends while showcasing their food options.

Community Spirit and Team Pride

The team’s current success adds to the excitement for fans like McAlee, who expressed optimism about the team’s performance, calling it one of the best he’s seen in a long time. He is hopeful for an Eagles playoff run and a trip to the Super Bowl for his birthday.
