Corbyn, Sultana’s Your Party Unveils Official Name Shortlist The newly formed leftwing political party led by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana has announced a shortlist of potential names for its official title. Members will choose from four options: Your Party, Our Party, Popular Alliance, and For The Many. This announcement comes ahead of the party’s inaugural conference in Liverpool, set to take place this weekend.

Party Conference and Leadership Structure

With approximately 50,000 members eligible to vote, the results of the name selection will be disclosed by Corbyn on Sunday. Initially branded as Your Party when it launched over the summer, the organization has faced internal disputes and challenges since its inception.

Disagreements have arisen between Corbyn and Sultana regarding the party’s launch and the management of funds raised from members. The party has also attracted independent MPs such as Ayoub Khan and Shockat Adam, although two members, Iqbal Mohamed and Adnan Hussain, have resigned amid ongoing infighting and power struggles.

More than 2,500 members are expected to attend the Liverpool conference, selected through a lottery system. The agenda includes discussions on the party’s structural framework, program, and organizational strategy. A central topic will be whether to adopt a single leader or a collective leadership model that emphasizes lay-member involvement. Additionally, members will deliberate on the party’s support for socialist independents in the upcoming 2026 English local elections.

Corbyn expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Over the last few months, I’ve traveled the length and breadth of the country, speaking to people and learning about their visions for a member-led party. I am very excited to get this party started and begin the work of building a majority for real political change.”

Sultana echoed this sentiment, saying, “I’m looking forward to the Your Party founding conference, where we’ll work collectively toward our shared socialist vision. We’re building a new kind of party – rooted in and democratically accountable to a mass movement.”

The conference is also notable for the recent cancellation of memberships for some individuals who belong to other political parties, including the Socialist Workers. Despite this, Sultana has garnered support from the Socialist Unity Platform, a coalition that includes the Communist Party of Great Britain.

As the party prepares for its first major gathering, it aims to establish a clear identity and direction amid the challenges it has faced since its formation.
